Sunflowers,The painter Georgij Moroz favored sunflowers But he painted only those of his beloved motherland Ukraine Every summer he went to the small town Dneprodzerzinsk where he had a small house he built, surrounded by fields of sunflowers He stayed all summer and painted there among his most beautiful pictures Georgij MOROZ (Dneprodzerzinsk, Ukraine 1937 - St. Petersburg 2015) Born in Dneprodzerzinsk, Ukraine, in 1937, he began his art studies at the school of fine arts in his hometown and continued at the school of fine arts in Kiev (1949-1956). from 1956 to 1962 he completed the cycle of studies at the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. In 1973 he joined the St. Petersburg Union of Artists. His exhibition activity began in the early 1960s and intensified since 1980, participating in numerous exhibitions abroad as well, including several solo shows. In 2002 he exhibited at the exhibition for the 70th anniversary of the St. Petersburg Union of Painters, and the following year he was present at the exhibition celebrating the 300th anniversary of the founding of the city. In 2007, in honor of his 70th birthday, a major solo exhibition was dedicated to him in St. Petersburg . Always extraordinary in the freshness and genuineness of his subjects, the painting of Moroz, one of the greatest representatives of Russian Post-Impressionism, has matured an expressive dimension capable of giving the painting an atmosphere of poetry of truth far removed from the political themes of the regime. Thanks to the brilliance of the textural impasto, bright and at the same time delicate, resolved with robust brushstrokes in a vibrant and luminous colorism, the Ukrainian artist was able to develop a poetics rooted in the reality in which he lives, preferring simple subjects, serene images of family life and countryside landscapes with a surprising atmospheric luminosity.
