Vintage Design

Ingo Maurer was a German lighting designer and light artist.

In addition to his work as a designer of lights, he also appeared as a lighting designer in public and private spaces. Among other things, he illuminated the Munich Freedom and Munich West Cemetery subway stations.

He also attracted attention as a critic of the ban on light bulbs. Quote Maurer from 2010:

“The light bulb is an icon. A murderous thought that they want to kill the light bulb. I can only hope that God will help us, that this cup will pass from us. Light brings a fourth dimension, an unconscious spirituality.”

Ingo Maurer designed the Uchiwa lamp in 1973. It was only produced in small numbers for two years. The lamp is a reminiscence of the impressive Uchiwa fans from Japan.

Made from bamboo and rice paper. Three E27 sockets.

The faded brand label is still attached to the bamboo handle
