Made using a specially handmade wooden machine that passes grès through porous fabrics, this mini-collection of three bowls from the Less:No.1 series is an exclusive commission for us by Santiago-based design studio gt2P. Riffing on 3D printing, the process imitates digital technologies through analogue solutions, resulting in beautiful “handicrafts” produced by machine. The trick of the machine is its ability to adjust certain variables—gravity, fabric tension, fluid weight—that dictate the final form of each bowl. In so doing, they generate various shapes and sizes, each subtly imprinted with the material’s texture.
Delicate, fragile, and almost translucent, each bowl embodies the innovative thinking of this talented—and rising star—young design collective.
In addition to Set Four, four other variations are available, and each is unique.
