"La Traviata” jewellery series originally inspired by the opera with the same name by Giuseppe Verdi set to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave inspired me to create the porcelain jewellery.Traces of gold and silver seen on the pieces are allegory to the collection name as which was La Traviata that means: The fallen woman. Traces of gold and silver are memories transferred onto porcelain. The symbol of it is wealth is gold and silver and fragility of porcelain that jewellery is created from as weakness of “The fallen woman”.

La Traviata pendant is handmade with original technique by using coloured porcelain, gold plated 925 sterling silver chain with regulated length. It has a brooch which You can pin up and use in different variations. Porcelain is one of the most durable, sustainable and sophisticated materials used in contemporary jewelery. Easy to clean with warm water and soap. Colour: green, pink and silver, regulated chain is 925 sterling silver, size 4,5 x 4 cm.

About the Creator

Maria Joanna Juchnowska

Maria Joanna Juchnowska is an artist, designer, curator, founder, and owner of Mari JJ Design, which launched in 2010 in Stockholm but is now based in Oslo.  She regularly cooperates with luxury brands in Europe, Asia, and the US, such as Meissen in Germany and Franz Collection in China and Taiwan. Her recent activities include participation in Dezeen's Virtual Design Week 2020, Fourisalone 2020, Ventura Dubai, Wanted Design New York, Talente International Craft Fair Munich, Der Berliner Salon Vogue Salon with Meissen, International Jingdezhen Porcelain Fair with Franz Collection, British Ceramics Biennial, Munich Creative Business Week, and more. Her many recognitions include laureate and finalist of Future Lights, the European competition organized by Ceramics and Its Dimensions, the Artzept International Design Award Milan, and second stage finalist at Red Dot Awards 2020. Juchnowska is a member of the IAC International Academy of Ceramics, Norske Kunsthåndverkere, Norske Billedkunstnere, and Artaxis International Ceramic Artist Association
