An original late 19th-century watercolour painting, Frederick Albert Slocombe, Dutch Girl in a Doorway.A very attractive large watercolour by Frederick Albert Slocombe (1847–1920).Slocombe, along with his brothers Charles Philip and Edward, is best known for his etchings, which were highly popular at the end of the 19th century. Fred Slocombe lived at Hampstead in North London. He established himself as a highly successful painter of landscape and rustic genre scenes, becoming a member of the New Watercolour Society and the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers. He exhibited widely, at the Royal Academy and elsewhere, for over fifty years. The Slocombe brothers produced etchings of naturalistic landscape subjects. Fred was also an accomplished reproductive printmaker, producing highly finished etchings after the work of other artists, such as Joseph Farquharson, Alfred Parsons and B.W. Leader.All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity and in some cases with an accompanying text or artist biography. Signed: Signed lower right: 'Fred Slocombe'.
