Contemporary Design

Casquet is a bergere created by ddpstudio for Biosofa. A convertible sofa, it saw the light of day through imagining the diﬀerent possibilities for the use of seating. The inspiration comes from the gestures of those who, while lounging on their sofas, throw a cover over their legs or grab a cushion to put under their heads. Everyday gestures used with everyday household objects hold the key to the accessories for Biosofa's sofas. Casquet synthesizes object and application in a single solution: the main seating space. In fact, the cardinal element of the project is the seating cushion: a single piece which tapers towards its end to breathe life into the padding of the armrest, and which also provides the sofa with its remarkable aesthetic quality. The very same cushion, rolled up from its end, exposes one side of the sofa and lends itself to being used as a comfortable headrest, transforming Casquet into a relaxing dormouse. As with all Biosofa products, Casquet is created using only natural products.
