About This Piece

Vintage Design

This delightful pair of tall, carved panels would once have formed part of an interior divider in a Chinese home in Shanxi province during the early 20th century. It's lovely that the matching pair remain as they are now quite difficult to come across.

The open panels towards the top of each panel are made from rounded sections of wood that fit together with mortise and tenon joints. These are set between closed panels decorated in carved relief with stylised dragons and long life symbols.

Use them today slotted in the stands provided to create a statement at either side of an entrance, or side by side as a narrow decorative screen in a bedroom for instance. Or they can be taken out of the stands and wall mounted to add character and interest to any interior.
