Vintage Rug in Wool, 1970s

Talsent Berber rugs constitute a rare category among Berber carpets.
They are usually of old manufacture; they were made by Berber women; coming from the Talsent region, in the far east of Morocco, on the border with Algeria, they are usually manufactured with wool on the weft and wool on the warp; the natural colors are based on the plants of the Atlas mountains in Morocco and are characterized by strong colours; and a strong Berber symbolism; what distinguishes these carpets, in addition to the beautiful wool from these high mountains, is above all the language transmitted by the combination of colors and designs expressed by the Berber weavers; which embody the extraordinary thousand-year history of these populations who have known other peoples such as the Phoenicians; the Romans, the Arabs and others;
in fact, Berber design has been handed down to us from the distant past through these symbols; combined with natural colors; narrates the ancient history of these populations, these are the elements that allow these rugs to combine wonderfully with contemporary design furnishings.
