About This Piece

Vintage Design

Are you searching for a unique and trend-forward vintage sofa that blends sculptural 1970s presence with lounge-level comfort?
Distinguish your living space with a curated design piece that reflects your unique style. The legendary Piumotto 3-seater sofa, designed by architect Arrigo Arrigoni for Gruppo Industriale Busnelli in the 1970s, is a masterpiece of Radical-Era Italian lounge furniture. Built around a revolutionary concept of cloud-like softness encased in modern industrial materials, the Piumotto offers an incredibly welcoming, deep-seated lounging experience without losing its crisp geometric outline.

The sofa’s design is anchored by a heavy-duty, ribbed black molded plastic underbody shell. This rigid structure conceals and elevates the plush cushions while guaranteeing structural longevity. The underside of the shell prominently features the raised original manufacturer stamping, GRUPPO INDUSTRIALE BUSNELLI S.p.A. PIUMOTTO ARCH. ARRIGO ARRIGONI, providing indisputable authenticity and provenance for high-end collectors.

Upholstered in rich, supple original black leather, the sofa features generous, downy padding that cradles the body. Arriving in stunning preserved vintage condition, the piece has been professionally cleaned, sanitized, and deeply conditioned. While the leather shows light, completely normal signs of superficial age-appropriate wear, it remains soft, intact, and fully hydrated, ready to serve as the ultimate focal point in a modern living room, loft, or creative office.

How to clean and maintain these black leather and molded plastic surfaces? For daily care, wipe the leather seating and the plastic base with a dry, ultra-soft microfiber cloth to keep dust away. Vacuum along the deep cushion seams using a soft brush attachment.

Leather & Base Conditioning: Apply a high-grade neutral leather balm to the upholstery once or twice a year to maintain soft flexibility and prevent drying. Clean the molded plastic underbody shell using a damp cloth with a splash of pH-neutral soap, then dry thoroughly.

What to Avoid: Keep the sofa away from active radiators, fireplaces, and direct, unshielded sunlight to prevent leather dehydration. Never use harsh chemical degreasers, solvent-based sprays, or abrasive sponges on either the leather or the molded plastic shell
