Original mixed media drawing (ink and watercolour on paper) realized by Keith Haring in 1986. Overleaf the inscription: ''Merry Christmas Alex 1986 Love, Keith'' with the signature ''K.Haring''. The piece has the certificate of authenticity by The Estate of Keith Haring, dated january 19, 2001 (identification number: 011901A12). The subject of this drawing is a penis on a blue background. In 1978, Keith Haring realized Manhattan Penis Drawings for Ken Hick a series of penis drawings that were inspired by the architecture of the New York borough, in which the artist blends humour with deeper concerns about politics, sex and power. The tradition of penis graffiti dates back at least to the 6th century BC and in his 1970s and 1980s pieces Haring uses this subject in the same pop and electric style of the other common subjects.
