Elia’s Stray Bullet series originated with the 2010 conflicts between the military police and drug traffickers in Rio, in which a number of innocent favelados fell victim to sudden, deadly crossfire. Elia was deeply moved by the circumstances and was inspired to intervene upon the ubiquitous polypropylene Monobloc chairs that line Rio’s favela neighborhoods, riddling them with eyelet hardware that mimics bullet holes. The Stray Bullet collection expanded to include tables, shelves, vases, and more, some now a part of the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Arts & Design.
The Stray Bullet Side Table is available with silver or gold eyelets—each a limited edition of eight pieces, handcrafted to order with a production time of four weeks.
