Last Friday we went to meet design trio Rich Brilliant Willing, a name the designers, Theo Richardson, Charles Brill, and Alexander Williams, came up with after some playful re-working of their own last names.

The studio recently moved from it's Chrystie St. location to this new, much larger space in Gowanus. We'd heard all about their newly designed products, as well as their collaborations with hotels and companies. Working alongside architects and decorators on large building projects has provided the trio with an enjoyable shift up in scale: outfitting everything from tech office spaces to hotel rooms and lobbies . . . and with multiple orders for the same thing posing a nice new challenge for the designers (while we were there they were packing for a delivery of over 200 lights!), they're loving it!

Theo demonstrated how much RBW love using readily available components, but that in some cases they have to make their own bolts, threads, and various other components. This one here was a stronger, improved swivel they had to have made for one of their lamps. Their attention to, and love for, detail really is quite impressive.
