Vintage Design

A modernist table lamp, model 8453, produced by the Swedish manufacturer Boréns in the 1930s. This striking piece captures the early functionalist spirit of Swedish modern design, where form and function merge in perfect balance. It is constructed with a tapered teak stem rising from a circular brass base with an integrated light switch. The lamp is fitted with two concealed lamp holders beneath a black disc-shaped metal shade with a brass rim, providing a soft, indirect light. It bears the manufacturer’s logotype and model number stamped underneath the base. Boréns, established in 1924 in Borås, Sweden, was a renowned manufacturer of lighting, celebrated for its contributions to Scandinavian modern design.
