Portuguese Amethyst Opaline Glass Table Lamp, 1960s

Bring timeless Mid-Century elegance into your home with this beautiful Portuguese opaline glass table lamp, produced in Marinha Grande during the 1960s. Inspired by the refined Scandinavian aesthetic of Holmegaard glass lamps, this piece features a graceful, sculptural silhouette crafted in a rich Purple Amethyst opaline glass, creating a sophisticated statement whether illuminated or displayed as a decorative object.

Its elegant tulip-shaped base reflects the clean lines and organic forms that defined Mid-Century Modern design, while the soft opaline finish gently diffuses light, adding warmth and atmosphere to any living room, bedroom, office, or reading corner. Complementing the vintage base is a new lampshade, carefully selected to preserve the lamp's original character while providing a fresh, timeless appearance.

This vintage lamp remains in excellent original condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs, preserving the beauty and integrity of the glass. It has been professionally rewired and is ready for everyday use.

Produced in Marinha Grande, Portugal's historic centre of glassmaking, this lamp represents a tradition that dates back to the 18th century. The region became internationally recognised for its exceptional craftsmanship, innovative techniques, and high-quality artistic glass production. Today, vintage Marinha Grande glass pieces are increasingly sought after by collectors and lovers of Scandinavian-inspired and Mid-Century Modern design, making this elegant lamp both a functional lighting piece and a collectible example of Portuguese glassmaking heritage.
