About This Piece

A refined painting by artist Paolo Polli, dated 1985 and certified as a "Unique Piece." It is a classic still life that highlights the beauty of the antiques and the reflections of the materials.

Subject and Style: The composition depicts an intimate, "old-world" corner: on a wooden table, a white and clear glass oil lamp and a wide-bellied copper/brass teapot (or kettle) with a dark handle stand out. In the background, leaning against the wall, a large copper plate reflects the light, partially framed by a heavy green curtain on the right. The artist demonstrates great mastery in rendering the different textures: the transparency of the glass of the lamp, the warm sheen of the copper, and the softness of the green fabric.

Material and Finish: Oil on canvas board (the certificate states "oil on canvas"). The work is protected by glass and housed in a gilded wooden frame with a light-colored mat.
