Designed by Brunno Jahara in 2012, each unique piece in the ingeniously sustainable Multiplastica Domestica Collection is made from plastic litter collected by the cooperative National Recycling Group in Sāo Paulo.
A virtuoso when it comes to combining color, Jahara performs modern-day alchemy, turning discarded cleaning product containers and drink bottle caps into vibrant, stylish, purposeful lamps and vessels that are full of joie de vivre.
“We hope that humankind will find a real solution in the next generations to extinguish polluting elements from our industries, and that plastics, as we know them today, will be reduced to a rare collector’s item,” explains Jahara.
The Multiplastica Domestica Collection places Jahara alongside pioneering designers like the Campana Brothers, who transform and revive found objects. Already on collectors’ wish lists, the series is an important reminder of the consequences of our throwaway attitude towards consumption.
