Brittany-based Miltonpriest is an artisanal design and manufacturing studio that specializes in handmade furniture and objects. Led by English designer Frank Maximilian, the studio brings together traditional craft processes and local materials to create informal furnishings with a poetic flair.
Like most pieces in the Miltonpriest collection, the Monsieur Flaubert Valet was inspired by an evocative folkloric symbol: crows. With a diverse and omnivorous diet, crows will eat almost anything, including fruits, nuts, seeds, earthworms, mollusks, frogs, eggs, nestlings, mice, other birds, and carrion. More prevalent now on the fringes of suburbia than in a rural setting, these birds are often seen lingering atop the local canopy, waiting for an opportune moment to scavenge a discarded donut or chip. Nevertheless, they’re considered to be among the world’s most intelligent animals—their brain-to-body ratio is equivalent to that of an ape.
The Monsieur Flaubert Valet is made from powder-coated steel and is available in over 200 RAL colors. The crow can be custom color coordinated. Get in contact with us if you’d like to place a special order.
