Vintage Design

Kontiki is an iconic pouf designed by Arne Norell in the 1970s, clearly referring to the aesthetics of safari furniture – a style combining solid construction, natural materials, and functional simplicity. The design reflects Norell's characteristic approach to design: sincerity of material, comfort of use, and craftsmanship precision.

The furniture is handmade in Sweden, where Arne Norell AB was founded in 1963. The base is a wooden frame made of selected solid beech wood, available in various shades of stain. The visible construction emphasizes the architectural character of the pouf and gives it stability and visual lightness.

The seat is equipped with a new cushion upholstered in black, semi-matt leather, made by an experienced upholsterer. The leather, with its subtle, elegant finish, harmoniously complements the wooden frame, emphasizing the luxurious yet austere character of the design. The natural patina that will appear on the leather over time will further enrich its appearance.
