Vintage Design

Model 504 highboard designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini in 1960.
This piece belongs to the early phase of Frattini’s long and influential collaboration with Bernini and represents a refined example of Italian mid-century modern cabinetry.

The highboard is characterized by its elegant architectural structure and balanced proportions. It features a walnut veneer with a warm tone reminiscent of rosewood, combined with sculptural solid wood legs and an internally organized storage system.

A distinctive element of the design is the presence of four roll-top shutter doors (serrandine), which slide smoothly to close and reveal the various compartments. The interior includes open shelves and drawers, offering both functional versatility and a clean visual composition when closed.

The Model 504 reflects Frattini’s rational yet sophisticated approach, merging technical precision with refined materiality. Its timeless design makes it suitable for residential interiors, executive spaces, or curated collections focused on Italian modern design.
