Kvadrat

Ebeltoft, Denmark

Internationally renowned for collaborating with leading architects, artists, and designers, Danish textile brand Kvadrat continually pushes the boundaries of textile innovation and quality.

Established by Erling Rasmussen and Poul Byriel in 1968 in Ebeltoft, Denmark, Kvadrat has grown into one of the world's most illustrious manufacturers of high-end upholstery, curtain fabrics, carpets, acoustic solutions, and other specialty textile products. While upholding traditional Scandinavian design values—“simplicity, uncompromising quality, and clear, visionary colors”—Kvadrat also embraces contemporary design culture by regularly working with today's emerging and established design talents.

The company's best sellers range from new classics like the Clouds Modular Room-Dividing System designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec in 2009, to the enduring Hallingdal 65, a woolen upholstery fabric designed in 1956 by Danish design luminary Nanna Ditzel.

Since its founding, the company has collaborated with external creatives from various disciplines in order to promote innovation and to constantly broaden its product range. Artists, designers, and architects such as Olafur Eliasson, Thomas Demand, Rosemarie Trockel, Peter Saville, Patricia Urquiola, and Tord Boontje have all added their extraordinary touch to Kvadrat’s profile. The company has also collaborated with Bikini Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and Adidas Originals, just to name a few.
