Vintage Design

This ceramic bowl was designed by Noomi Backhausen for Søholm Keramik and produced in Denmark in the 1970s.
Crafted in hand-thrown and glazed stoneware at Søholm’s workshop on Bornholm, the bowl is numbered 3217, confirming its model/decoration and period of production.

The piece exemplifies Backhausen’s mature modernist language: a balanced, sculptural form combined with bold, graphic decoration and carefully layered glazes in earthy and cool tonal contrasts. As with all Søholm production from this period, the decoration was applied by hand, resulting in subtle individual variations that highlight its artisanal origin.
