Christ in the Gethsemane is an original oil on canvas realized bu the Cercle of Carlo Maratta (1625-1713). The work derives from an engraving realized by Robert van Audenaerd in Rome between 1701 and 1728 and from a sketch by Maratta himself. Ref. S. Rudolph, Niccolò Maria Pallavicini. L'ascesa al Tempio della Virtù attraverso il Mecenatismo, Roma, Ugo Bozzi Editore, 1955 pp. 113, 124, 203 (note n.277). Expertise by Dott. Patrizio Basso Bondini in 2020. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
