Vintage Design

Magnificent mid-century modern Chandelier by Oscar Torlasco for Lumi Milano, model 234, from the 1950s, Italy. The structure is entirely made of polished brass. This chandelier has twelve lights in E14 format. We recommend viewing the images at maximum to appreciate the many details from which you can see the great executive quality. The restoration was made with great care by a specialized craftsman to bring back this piece's original beauties. The electrical system perfectly works.

About the Creator

Oscar Torlasco

Italian lighting designer Oscar Torlasco (born in Rome, 1934-2004) designed for a wide array of Italian lighting manufacturers including Esperia and Stilkronen, though he spent most of his career designing for Lumi.

Particularly active during the 1950s and 1960s, Torlasco’s lighting designs - which span sconces, floor lamps, and chandeliers - often utilized industrial chromed steel which he paired with more luxurious materials such as marble, crystal, and brass. His eclectic designs ranged in style from industrial and Space Age to Italian Art Deco. The use of optical glass lenses within his designs is considered Torlasco's signature. In 1959, he was awarded a Compasso d`Oro for his public street light Genova 4053 (1959).
