About This Piece

Vintage Design

An Italian "Birillo" table lamp, crafted in Murano, Venice around the turn of the century. This lamp is a stunning example of chrome and glass design in vibrant, retro-inspired colours. The base is crafted from pale amber glass, while the top features a lovely milky white glass that emits a warm, ambient glow. A three-setting switch provides versatile lighting options, allowing the user to illuminate either just the top, just the base, or both together to create the perfect ambiance. This sculptural piece of glassware embodies retro chic, making it a striking addition to any mid-century or contemporary interior.

The Birillo lamp, with its playful yet refined design, became an iconic piece in 1970s Italian lighting. Combining artistic glasswork with functional lighting, it captures the era’s fascination with vibrant colours and sculptural forms, and remains a sought-after classic for those who appreciate mid-century design aesthetics.
