Artist Filippa de Boer Netherlands late 1970s - early 1980s H 31cm W 13cm D 3,5cm and H 20cm W 12cm D 4cm Unique Sculptural Pair | 31 cm & 20 cm High | Dutch Contemporary Art A beautifully balanced pair of bronze sculptures by Dutch artist Filippa de Boer (1947) , capturing the essence of the human form through simplicity, texture, and quiet expression. The larger figure (31 cm high) presents a contemplative frontal portrait, reduced to its most essential elements. with its elongated face, softly modelled features, and subtly inclined posture, the sculpture conveys a remarkable sense of presence and introspection. The rich dark bronze patina enhances the hand-worked surface, revealing the artist’s tactile approach to form. Complementing it is a smaller bust (20 cm high), depicted in profile. More abstract in character, the piece evokes the silhouette of a classical portrait while remaining distinctly modern. Areas of verdigris patination lend depth and variation to the bronze, emphasizing its sculptural contours and organic texture. Together, the two works create a compelling dialogue between frontality and profile, presence and memory, figuration and abstraction. Displayed as a pair, they possess a poetic and architectural quality, each enhancing the other’s quiet strength. Very good condition.
