F588 Lounge Chair by Geoffrey Harcourt for Artifort, the Netherlands, 1967 About This Piece Vintage Design Beautiful iconic F588 swivel lounge chair designed by Geoffrey Harcourt and manufactured by Artifort, The Netherlands 1967. Geoffrey D. Harcourt distinguished himself with this series of swivel armchairs by its comfortable shape and striking upholstery. The idea for the F500 armchair came about because Harcourt’s girlfriend liked to curl up cross-legged. He was fascinated by this very feminine attitude. That resulted in the F500: a chair that has all the comfort of an easy chair and wide enough to accommodate this unusual seating area. This wonderful design classic from the 1960s has a white lacquered polystyrene trumpet feet and a shell that has been newly upholstered with high quality blue “De Ploeg” fabric. It has a special appearance due to its quilted fabric and seats very comfortable. The chair is in very good condition, only the base has some paint losses. It’s marked underneath with Artifort.
