About This Piece

Vintage Design

An exceptional example of mid-century Dutch design, this Double Maxi Globe wall lamp was produced by Raak Amsterdam in the 1960s — a standout piece from one of the era’s most influential lighting manufacturers. Composed of two large smoked-glass globes, each mounted on refined brass-toned cylindrical sockets, the fixture embodies the Raak ethos: architectural elegance with a sculptural twist. The globes are supported by a matte black metal backplate, creating a minimalist yet dramatic profile ideal for both residential and commercial interiors.
Often attributed to Frank Ligtelijn, Raak’s in-house designer, the Maxi Globe series is highly sought after for its warm light diffusion, timeless proportions, and versatility. This rare double configuration adds an extra layer of visual symmetry and is far less commonly seen than the single sconce or pendant variants.
A rare collector's piece that captures the refined innovation of 1960s Dutch design. Suitable for hallways, bedrooms, or modern living spaces seeking authentic mid-century character.
