Lina Patsiou

Designer Lina Patsiou was born in Athens, Greece, in 1987 to an economist and a philosophy teacher. She studied for three years at the Plakas Arts Center in Athens, completing the school’s preparatory Architecture Foundation program in 2004. Between 2004 and 2010, she studied Product and Systems Design Engineering at the University of the Aegean, earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s of science degrees. From 2008 to 2009, Patsiou also studied Integrated Product Design at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, as part of an exchange program. In 2013, Patsiou received a Master’s in Design Products from London’s Royal College of Art, where she had been under the tutelage of designer Tord Boontje.

In 2012, while still a student at RCA, Patsiou formally established her design studio in London's Hackney borough when Thomas & Vines began to produce her touchable Muscar Fluffy Light. She specializes in furniture, object, and installation design. Her work explores the tangible impact of time and place on design, often focusing on the themes of identity, narrative, and the fantastic.

Elle Deco International Design Awards nominated Patsiou for the Young Design Talent of the Year Award for 2013.

In 2015, Patsiou moved her studio to Amsterdam. She now also works as a product designer for noted Dutch designer Marcel Wanders.
