Enrico Marone Cinzano

Designer and entrepreneur Enrico Marone Cinzano was born in Turin, Italy in 1963. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Babson College in Babson Park, Massachusetts in 1983. In 2001, he cofounded indie fashion label Project Alabama with former filmmaker Natalie Chanin and photographer Paul Graves; he served as co-creative director until 2007. In 2012, he began designing sculptural, nature-inspired furniture using local, sustainable materials, with a respect for ecology, enduring craftsmanship, and principled consumption. While he has no dedicated studio space, he divides his time between New York City, London, and Shanghai, but calls Maremma in Tuscany his home base, where he lives with his dog, Napoli. Marone Cinzano collaborates with independent fabricators and makers in Italy, the UK, the US, and China. According to the designer, “I always try to produce locally, so I go where the client needs me.”

Notable projects to date include the futuristic EMC series (2012-13), a furniture and lighting collection composed of sustainable materials including Pinus Cembra Pine reclaimed from 18^th-century chalets in Piedmont, upcycled metalwork from Turin, and non-toxic, homemade glue made of food industry by-products. In spring 2015, Marone Cinzano’s designs were included in the annual Milan Design Week exhibition at Galleria Rossana Orlandi.

Marone Cinzano is a member of ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale).
