Briggs & Cole

Briggs & Cole Art & Design Works is a Glasgow-based creative studio.  Partners Jane Briggs and Christy Cole (both born in Glasgow in 1977) cofounded the studio in 2012 in the city’s east end. Briggs & Cole specializes in limited-edition and unique art and design for residential and commercial interiors, including furniture, lighting, objets d’art, large-scale artworks, fabric, and wallpaper prints. The studio’s projects often focus on hand-made techniques as well as the 2D and 3D relationships between collage, imagery, and pattern. Notably, in 2014, the studio was commissioned to create new work for the inaugural exhibition at the Steven Holl-designed Reid Building at the Glasgow School Of Art.

The partners are both graduates of the Glasgow School of Art. Briggs studied product design and earned her Bachelor’s degree in 1999. Cole studied visual and multidisciplinary art, graduating with a Master’s degree in 2006. The pair met through mutual friends in the city in 2004.
