Bec Brittain

Born in Washington, D.C., in 1980, New York–based designer Bec Brittain studied industrial design at Parsons The New School for Design for two years before going on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in philosophy from New York University in 2002. She completed her RIBA Part 1 examination from the Architectural Association in London in 2004. After school, Brittain returned to New York City and worked for Work Architecture Company (2005–06), high-end door hardware company H. Theophile (2006–09), and Lindsey Adelman Studio (2009–11).

She founded her Red Hook, Brooklyn, studio in 2011, and specializes in high-end lighting and product design. Brittain’s designs are characterized by simple lines and a clean, raw beauty. Her work draws upon her background in architecture, philosophy, and product design, and prioritizes local manufacturing.
