Founded in 2010 by architects Pascale Wakim and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, Carwan began as the first pop-up gallery in the Middle East. Based in Beirut, the gallery exhibits limited-edition pieces focused on internationalizing design in the Middle East, often achieved by pairing Western designers with local artisans. Talents represented by the gallery include India Mahdavi, Karim Chaya, Lindsey Adelman, Khalid Shafer, Marc Baroud, Mischer’Traxler, Oeuffice, and Philippe Malouin.
Carwan Gallery also provides creative and design-centered consultancy, giving collectors, architects, and interior designers the possibility to commission site-specific, custom service. The gallery offers access to a cadre of top-level craftsmen from across the Middle East to assist with production, adaptation, and installation.
