A rare and sculptural Danish Modern pendant lamp by Nils Kähler, produced by Kähler (HAK) in Næstved, Denmark, circa 1960–1968.

The lamp features a cylindrical stoneware body finished in a richly textured deep blue relief glaze, a characteristic surface treatment within Kähler’s mid-century production. This is complemented by areas of unglazed terracotta, introducing a subtle material contrast that enhances the tactile quality and emphasizes the ceramic’s natural character.

The interplay between glazed and unglazed surfaces reflects a refined approach to materiality, where variation in finish is used to articulate form rather than decoration.

It retains its original white acrylic diffuser, as produced, which provides a soft and evenly distributed light. The diffuser is formed from curved acrylic joined along a vertical seam — a standard production method of the period — which remains subtly visible and contributes to the lamp’s authentic character.

The diffuser is secured by discreet fastening points integrated into the internal structure, reflecting a practical and honest approach to construction typical of Scandinavian modern design.

The internal white-lacquered metal frame shows minor, even oxidation at points, consistent with age, adding to the lamp’s authentic vintage character without affecting function.
