About This Piece

Watercolor on paper. Signed and dated down. The graceful watercolor portrays a citizen glimpse at the entrance to a church, where street vendors have placed their lively stall.
Of the Lombard painter Claudio Bernacchi we know a few biographical data, but his name often appears in the second half of the 1800s as a painter and architect in the realization of Milanese works (such as the pavilion built in 1857 on the square of Loreto on the occasion of the Entrance in Milan of the emperor of Austria Francesco Giuseppe and the Consort), as well as as an ornate teacher at the Brera Academy.
The painting is presented in a golden frame of the late 800s, with failures.
