This handmade bowl comes from emerging American designer Dana Bechert. Bechert's distinctive, modern craftwork is inspired by Native American ceramics, and specifically Acoma Pueblo Native American pots, as well as examples of geometry and grid-based patterns in the environment. This Blue Marbled Bowl was fashioned on the potters wheel out of gray and white porcelains. The pattern is achieved using the ancient technique of sgraffito, in which a thin layer of pigmented clay, called slip, is selectively carved away to reveal the clay body underneath. All the carving is done freehand by the artist in her Nottingham, PA studio. Coated inside and out with a high gloss clear, it is easily washable by hand or in the dishwasher. Non Toxic Glaze. Food safe and thermally stable.
