Pair Of Early C20th Oil On Boards By Bessie Bamber Born 1870 A Charming Pair of Early C20th Oil on Boards by Bessie Bamber Born 1870. Featuring two collies on a rocky outcrop and a couple of lurchers in a similar setting. Monogramed BB to the collie painting lower left. In original glazed frames by J Davey & Sons Liverpool. A few small nibbles and chips to frames but overall good condition and the wear is commensurate with age. Bessie Bamber was a British artist who specialised in paintings of domestic pets, particularly kittens and cats. Little is known of her life, and it is not known if Bamber was her maiden or married name. She worked in Liverpool from the late 1800’s to the 1920’s. She was reportedly born in Birkenhead near Liverpool. Dimensions: 36cm wide by 26cm framed.
