About This Piece

Vintage Design

Elegant pair of French Art Deco bookends produced in France during the 1930s.
Each bookend features a reclining gazelle beneath a stylized palm tree, an exotic motif that perfectly reflects the fascination with distant landscapes typical of the Art Deco period.
The sculptures are crafted in patinated metal with their original cold-painted green finish on the palm trees, creating a refined contrast with the rich bronze-toned patina of the gazelles.
Solid white marble bases provide balance and elegance while enhancing the sculptural composition. Combining decorative appeal with practical function, this distinctive pair is an excellent addition to a library, study, or sophisticated Art Deco interior.
