About This Piece

Vintage Design

This is a superb antique Victorian coromandel, ormolu mounted and cased three decanter tantalus and games compendium, circa 1870 in date. It was skilfully crafted in rare coromandel with a satinwood interior and ormolu mounts. The three cut crystal glass decanters with stoppers, a mirrored back and compartmens containing four cut glass drinking glasses, a cigar cutter, a vesta holder with striker and a pair of WMF oval silver plated dishes with gilt interiors. The base has two drawers containing playing cards, dice, two antique Japanese whist counters with circular gaming counters and a brass mounted cribbage board with twelve markers. It is a decorative piece which is also very practical, and would make a lovely gift. It is complete with the original working Bramah lock and key, which locks everything.
