Vintage Design

This rare Delft tile dates from around mid 18th century and was made in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. It depicts a cartouche with an artist/performer on top of it, wearing a glass. In the center of the cartouche a scene with 3 ships is shown. on top of the cartouche 2 naked persons wearing Flags. These rare type of Delft tiles often seem to be inspired by the work of Daniël Marot (1663 - 1752).
The tile is decorated with 'rosette' corner motifs and is in a great condition, with only minor chips on the edge. The frame has some traces of age.
