About This Piece

Vintage Design

A charming 18th-century porcelain figure group from the Ludwigsburg manufactory, depicting a courting couple in a rocaille garden setting, surrounded by clusters of grapes — a classic allegorical reference to the grape harvest and the season of autumn. The gentleman, in a plumed hat and frock coat, gestures toward his companion, who is seated beside an openwork rocaille support entwined with grapevine and blackberries.

The piece bears the underglaze blue Ludwigsburg mark (interlaced "C" beneath a crown) on the base. The group carries a Parisian provenance label from "Antiquités XVII–XVIII, Jeanne-Marie Béalu," a Boulevard Saint-Germain antiques dealer.

Please note: the piece shows a visible old repair/hairline crack near the base, visible in the detail photos — sold in this condition as an antique collector's piece.

A refined example of Ludwigsburg's rocaille figure tradition, prized for its lively modeling and pastoral narrative charm.
