About This Piece

Vintage Design

A beautifully preserved pair of Italian Renaissance-style walnut corner chairs, dating from the mid to late 19th century. Each chair features exceptionally detailed hand-carved ornamentation, including stylised foliate motifs, scrollwork, and sculptural splats. The shaped walnut top rail is enriched with fine carving and supported by turned and carved columns.

The richly patterned drop-in seats are upholstered in a traditional woven textile, complementing the deep patina and warm tone of the walnut. The carved frieze and unusual shaped turned legs add balance and elegance to the overall silhouette, showcasing the craftsmanship and artistic sensibility of the period.

Both chairs remain in very good antique condition, with beautifully aged surfaces and strong structural integrity. Ideal as decorative accent pieces, occasional seating, or as statement chairs in an eclectic or historically inspired interior.
